Audience: event organisers and the people setting up check-in desks. Applies to: events that check people in with the Delekit Check-in Desk kiosk app.
Delekit Check-in Desk is a Windows app for self check-in desks: attendees scan the QR code on their ticket and their badge prints. Install it on each Windows tablet or laptop you'll use at a desk, from Delekit's install page. It updates itself after that.
Before you start
- Use a Windows 10 or 11 device with an internet connection for the install. The app doesn't run on Macs, iPads, Android tablets or phones: the install page says so if you open it on one.
- Plan what's plugged in. Each kiosk needs a handheld QR scanner (USB or Bluetooth) or a camera, and a Zebra badge printer if it prints badges.
- Your organisation may block installers from sites it doesn't know. If it does, ask your IT
team to allow
assets.delekit.combefore the day you set up. - Your event needs a check-in profile. It says which session a kiosk checks people into and which badge it prints. Delekit sets profiles up for you, so ask Delekit support for one before you set up the kiosks.
Install the app
- On the Windows device, open the install page,
https://assets.delekit.com/checkin-kiosk/install.html, in Edge or Chrome. - Select Download installer.
- Open
setup.exefrom your downloads. If Windows asks whether to keep the file, choose Keep. - If Windows shows Windows protected your PC, select More info, then Run anyway. The app is new, so Windows doesn't recognise it yet. This is expected.
- Select Install when asked.
- Wait for the app to open. It starts on its Sign in screen.
What happens next
- A Delekit Check-in Desk shortcut is added to the desktop and the Start menu, for next time.
- The app checks for a new version each time it starts and updates itself. You don't need to download it again.
- The app fills the screen and stays on top of other windows, and the screen doesn't go to sleep while it runs. That keeps attendees in the check-in screens. To close it, select Exit kiosk on the setup screens or the organiser screen.
- Next, sign the kiosk in and choose your event: see Pair a kiosk with your event.
Check it works
Close the app with Exit kiosk, then open it again from the Delekit Check-in Desk shortcut. It should open on its sign-in screen, or on Resume check-in? if you've already set it up.
If something isn't right
- The download is blocked: your organisation blocks installers from unfamiliar sites. Ask
your IT team to allow
assets.delekit.com, or ask your Delekit contact for the installer on a USB stick. - Nothing happens after the download: open your Downloads folder and double-click
setup.exe. - The page says to open it on the Windows device: you're on a Mac, phone or tablet. Open the same address on the Windows device you're setting up.
- The kiosk says the connection is being blocked: the venue's network or your firewall stops it reaching Delekit. Try another network, or ask the venue or your IT team to allow Delekit's addresses.
- You want to remove the app: in Windows, open Settings › Apps › Installed apps, select Delekit Check-in Desk, then Uninstall.
