Swap a QR ticket for a wristband

Audience: on-site check-in staff. Applies to: events that give attendees NFC wristbands, badges or cards.

Hand out wristbands at the registration desk as people arrive: scan the attendee's QR code ticket, then write a wristband for them from the scan result. The scan checks them in, and from then on the wristband is their ticket.

Before you start

• Use blank or rewritable NFC wristbands.
• The attendee needs to be downloaded to the device. If a scan shows Not yet synced — please sync and rescan, select the refresh icon and scan again.
• The swap writes the attendee's ID only, whatever Write additional NFC records is set to. To write their name too, assign the wristband from their profile instead: see Assign a wristband to an attendee.

Swap the ticket

1. In the sessions list, select your registration session.

2. On the toolbar, select QR Scan, and scan the attendee's QR code ticket.

3. Check the result shows Valid Scan and their name, then select Assign Tag.

   

4. When Scan to assign Name appears, hold the wristband flat against the back of the device.

5. Check the result shows Tag Assigned, then hand over the wristband.

6. Select Begin Scanning for the next person.

What happens next

• The attendee is checked into the session by the QR scan.
• Their emailed QR code stops working: the wristband now holds their ID. Their scans so far stay with them.
• The new ID is sent to Delekit straight away, or at the next sync if the device is offline. On the web, the old ID moves to the attendee's Tag history.

Check it works

Go back to the attendee list, select Scan Tag on the toolbar and scan the wristband. The result should show their name. Already Scanned is expected: the QR scan checked them in.

If something isn't right

• Assign Tag isn't shown: the attendee isn't on the device yet. Select the refresh icon, then scan their ticket again.
• Tag not assigned — please try again: select Assign Tag again and hold the wristband still for longer. Error: tag not writable or Error: tag too small means you need a different wristband. See A wristband won't write.
• The attendee later shows their QR code at a session: it no longer works. Scan their wristband instead.
