Audience: people registered for an event. Applies to: events that send e-tickets. The organiser decides whether their emails include an e-ticket link.
Activate your e-ticket to get the QR code you show at the entrance. You open the link in the organiser's email, accept any terms you haven't accepted yet, and your e-ticket appears, ready to download or email to yourself.
Before you start
- Find the e-ticket link in the organiser's email. It opens a page that says Activate your e-ticket. Opening it doesn't activate anything until you select the button.
- The link is personal to you. It needs no password or code, so don't forward it.
- Keep the email. The same link opens your e-ticket again at any time, on the day of the event too.
Activate your e-ticket
- Open the e-ticket link. The page says "Confirm the details below to get your entry QR code for the event."
- Under Terms & conditions, read each one and tick its box. Select View terms to open a document in a new tab.
- If a box can't be ticked yet, scroll to the end of its terms first. The page says "Scroll to the end of the terms to continue.", then "Thanks — you've read the terms."
- Select Activate my e-ticket. It works once every box is ticked.
If there are no terms left for you to accept, the page has only the Activate my e-ticket button: select it.
What happens next
The page says Your e-ticket is ready and shows:
- your QR code, with "Show this code at the entrance";
- your name as Attendee, and your Ticket type.
To keep a copy:
- Select Download as PDF to save it on your phone or computer.
- Select Email me a copy to send it to your registration's email address. The page says where it went: "Your e-ticket has been sent to …", with part of the address hidden.
Check it works
Open the link again: once you've activated it, the page goes straight to your e-ticket, with no terms to accept. The page is in your registration's language when the event offers it.
If something isn't right
- "E-ticket unavailable" with "This activation link is not valid.": the link was cut short or changed. Open it again from the email, or copy the whole link into your browser.
- "This registration has been cancelled, so there is no e-ticket for it." or "This invitation was declined, so there is no e-ticket for it." A cancelled or declined registration has no QR code. Contact the event's organiser if you still plan to attend.
- "We could not find your registration." Your registration has been removed. Contact the event's organiser.
- "Please accept the terms and conditions to continue." Tick every box under Terms & conditions.
- "Please scroll through the terms and conditions before activating." Scroll to the end of each set of terms, then tick its box.
- "Please wait a moment before requesting another copy." Wait a minute before selecting Email me a copy again.
- "No email address is on file for your registration." Select Download as PDF instead, or contact the organiser.
- The copy hasn't arrived: check your spam or junk folder, or download the PDF.
