Your event website: an overview

Modified on Fri, 30 Oct at 8:50 AM

Audience: client administrators and event administrators. Applies to: plans that include the registration form builder. If the Website items show a padlock in the menu, they aren't in your plan.

Every event has its own website, created with the event: the pages people visit to find out about it and register. You build the pages from blocks in the page builder, brand them with a theme, and publish the site when it's ready. Nothing is public until you publish it.

What makes up your website

Part What it is Where to find it
Pages Each page of the site. The Register page holds the registration form. Delekit also makes the pages people see after they register, cancel, decline or join the waitlist, and the receipt page. Website › Pages
Header and footer Shared by every page. The header starts with your logo, the menu and a Register button; the footer with links and contact details. Website › Pages, then Edit header or Edit footer
Navigation menu The links in the header's menu, and who sees each one. Website › Settings › Navigation
Theme Colours, fonts, logos and the look of buttons and fields, for every page. Website › Theme
Settings Publishing, the web address, your own domain, search engines, analytics and cookies, and a password for the whole site. Website › Settings
Assets The images and files your pages use. Website › Assets

The home page

The web address opens the site's home page. A new website doesn't have one: add a page and choose Home page as its Page type (see Build a page with the page builder). Until you do, the web address opens the Register page instead. A site can have only one home page.

Drafts and what's live

  • Page builder changes are a draft. They save as you work, and the page shows Draft: not live. The live site keeps what was last published until you select Publish page (this page) or Publish site (every page).
  • New pages start not live, including the ones Delekit makes with the event.
  • The theme has its own draft. Colour and font changes go live when you select Publish theme.
  • Some things save straight to the live site: a page's settings (its title, address and access) and the navigation menu. There's nothing to publish for those.
  • The first publish puts the whole site online. In Website › Settings, select Publish site: every page, the header, the footer and the menu go live together, and the web address starts working. See Preview and publish your website.

Who can see each page

Every page starts as Public. You can make the Register page invite-only, or ask visitors for a password on any page you add (see Make registration public, invite-only or password-protected). To ask for a password before anyone sees the site at all, turn on Require a password in Website › Settings › Access.

The web address

Every site works on a Delekit address made from the event's name. You can run it on your own domain instead: see Use your own domain for your event site.
